God Is

God wants to be who He is.

You know that feeling you get when you’re authentically and truly “you”? There is a unique satisfaction that we experience when we’re most ourselves, when the person we introduce to the external world aligns with our interior self. I have three amazing sisters. There is no better feeling than being in their company, laughing my most authentic laugh, talking with my truest voice, sharing silly jokes and thoughts freely and truly.

Did you know that God desires to be Himself in your life?

God desires for us to know His truest self. I believe that it brings God pleasure when He gets to show us who He is. The beauty of God is that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is truth. He is always who He says He is. He never changes. What I find so incredibly fulfilling about my relationship with God is that it is infinite. HE is infinite! I can always go deeper with God. There is always more that He is revealing. In his constancy, He is endless. The same, yet infinitely deep. Found, but searchable - He invites us to seek Him and find Him and know Him (Jeremiah 29:13).

God is constant - He never changes - but He is multifaceted. He is who we need Him to be at the moment we need Him to be it. He’s never not a Healer, Deliverer, or One and Only Savior. But there are certain seasons in which God highlights a particular aspect of Himself in the midst of our circumstances.

I am fascinated by the names of God.

God’s names describe His character. I once read an awesome book that connected God’s names to their origin in the Bible, demonstrating how God shows up for His people as an act of identity. His actions in our lives accord with who He is, and who He is is captured in His name.

God recently revealed to me that He places us in certain situations so that He can introduce us to Himself more completely. He desires for us to know Him fully, enc0unter new facets of His character, experience new manifestations of His power, and visit new corners of His unchanging self. The names of God become real and personal when we meet a particular name during a particular season.

Have you ever questioned why you are in a hard season?

Our difficult seasons are an invitation to meet God and the different aspects captured in His names.

How would we meet Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, if we never have a need? Our seasons of lack are an invitation to encounter our Source, the One who desires to meet all our needs richly.

How would we meet Jehovah Shalom, God our peace, if we never experience a storm? In our seasons of turmoil, God invites us to rest in His peace, a peace that surpasses understanding and exceeds any counterfeit that the world offers.

How would we meet Elohim, great & mighty Creator, if we never need God to make a way where there seems to be no way? God introduces Himself as Waymaker when He becomes our only way.

How would we meet Jehovah Nissi, the Lord my Banner, if we never face a battle that we can’t fight on our own? God placed you in the fight of your life to introduce you to Himself as Victorious One, Protector, the One who fights your battle and wins. The battle belongs to Him. Will you let Jehovah Nissi fight for you?

How would we meet El Shaddai, God Almighty, if we never experience a season of powerlessness? Let God introduce Himself as All Powerful One as he becomes strength in your weakness.

How would we meet Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals, if we never encounter a diagnosis, a misalignment, a deep wound, a dark midnight? God introduces Himself as Healer when He draws near to our broken heart, comforts us, binds our wounds, breaks our addiction, sets us free from our pain, transforms us, and restores us. By His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Let God be your Healer in this season.

Invite God into every season, every need, every area of lack.

Watch Him show up and introduce Himself to you in new ways. Be expectant and have faith that the season you are in is merely a conduit for God’s glory. He will be exactly who He’s promised to be.

Worship music has been one of the most refreshing aspects of my relationship with God lately and I believe that this song really speaks to the power of God’s names and His ability to be everything we need Him to be no matter what season we find ourselves in. Give it a listen - it is powerful!
